In a significant move to enhance public access to its flagship initiatives, Future Earth Coasts (FEC) has successfully launched new webpages for the Tour de Coasts project, the Just Transitions Sub-Working Group, and the CYBER-COAST Working Group. These webpages aim to improve accessibility and provide platforms for researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders to engage with key FEC initiatives.<\/p>\n

Tour de Coasts<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

Tour de Coasts, an initiative by FEC and University of South Carolina researchers, creates a forum for knowledge exchange about priority coastal sustainability concerns and fosters a comprehensive understanding of coastal sustainability challenges and opportunities from a global perspective. From March 2024, FEC conducted a survey with participants from 67 countries to identify key gaps and solutions. Survey findings were shared at the SRI 2024 Interactive Roundtable, and the final report is currently in progress, set to be released via FEC channels. Just Transitions Sub-Working Group<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Just Transitions Sub-Working Group, established in 2023, is committed to tackling the challenges and opportunities entailed in transitioning coastal regions toward sustainability. This endeavour aligns with the overarching FEC theme of \u201cPathways to Coastal Sustainability\u201d.\u00a0Partnering with stakeholders, this Sub-Working group empowers coastal communities to choose equitable and resilient sustainability pathways. Its work focuses on identifying barriers, enabling transitions, and institutionalizing fair and just coastal futures. By translating knowledge into action, the Group strives to bridge the gap between understanding and implementation. CYBER-COAST Working Group<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

CYBER-COAST (A CYBERnetic perspective on COASTal environments) Working Group, established in 2023, addresses the intricate challenges of predicting and managing ecosystem responses to global changes by framing coastal environmental changes through a cybernetics and ecological energetics perspective, thereby serving as a platform for collaboration and funding proposals in ecosystem conservation and sustainable coastal development on a global scale. Through the sharing of ideas and knowledge, FEC CYBER-COAST working group will develop a conceptual scheme to frame coastal environmental changes under the perspective of cybernetics and ecological energetics.
